About Us

Creating Meaningful Impact

Formed in 2023, The Lwai-Lume Legacy Foundation is working hard to build a kinder, healthier, and more equitable world. Named in honor of our founding trustees' parents, Nabeta and Louise Lwai-Lume, the Foundation embodies the core value of Ubuntu, which is often translated as "I am because we are."

Nabeta and Louise instilled in their children the belief that our time on Earth is a gift, and that we have a sacred responsibility to care for one another. This guiding principle shapes our philanthropic efforts, which support initiatives in areas such as education, healthcare, and social justice.

Over the past decade, our trustees have collaborated to maximize their impact, and we are grateful to formalize this partnership with The Lwai-Lume Legacy Foundation (or "3L" as we affectionately call it!) and are excited to see what we can build with the diverse team of volunteers and staff who contribute their unique expertise and resources to our mission.
